Today's edition of the Bloggy Awards features the evil sweetheart Syrana of Sideshow & Syrana.
We have been nominated by: Faulsey of Master's Call, Fulguralis of Killing 'em Slowly, Gnomeaggedon of Armaggedon's Coming, and Thedoctor of WTFspaghetti.
I really want to say thank you and happily accept these awards. I must say I was a bit surprised to see how many nominations we received and it made us all warmfuzzy inside. (Or was that just a bit of fire burning in Syrana's tummy?) I am honored to receive such recognition and to be apart of our wonderful blogging community!
/tears of happiness
Rules:
- When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to the said person so everyone knows she/he is real.
- Choose a minimum of seven (7) blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have seven friends. Show the seven random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with Honest Weblog. Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.
- List at least ten (10) honest things about yourself. Then pass it on!
For the passing-it-forward nominations and recognition, I do want to say that I'm going to try to name blogs that have not been bestowed this award yet. Not that I don't want to give them recognition, but I want to spread the love! (Forget I'm a warlock for a second and re-read that last line.)
And the nominees are…
1- Davlin of Epic Dwarven Blogger – He's an adorable Dwarf who provides great hunterin' information and entertainment. He's also been a total sweetheart in helping to get our name out into the blogosphere as well as a frequent commenter here. For that, I must thank you!
2- Byaghro of Casual WoW – He provides helpful druid healer information and has a great series of posts regarding guild management and organization. I also thoroughly enjoy his current RP series. (He's probably wishin' about now that I never found his blog since I tag him so much!)
3- Samodean of Hardcore Casual – My recognition of Samodean actually goes a bit beyond the level of just his blog. I want to applaud his creativity and enthusiasm for working on a multi-blog project that we hope to share with all our readers soon!
4- Deekow of, well, Deekow – His passion for Taurens and Death Knights all rolled into one is inspiring. He's also got a new project going which I think is wonderfully original. I wish I'd thought of it first!
5- Windpaw of Shock and Paw – His writing style is superb. I look forward to his stories, even if I fall behind in reading them soon after they are posted. But! That's because I like to make sure I can devote my full attention to reading them.
6- Gaming Diva – Girl Gamer, need I say more? Her blog offers a friendly and fun place to hangout. She always likes to pose questions at the end of her posts to enhance reader participation and discussion.
7- Rosalyne – Girl Gamer and Warlock. (I guess I needed to say a tad more!) Those two things right there make her win in my book. She's a more friendly warlock than you'll usually find, but that's alright, we'll still claim her as one of our own. ;) Plus, she's newer on the scene and we need to haze her with meme initiation!
10 things about Syrana:
1- Sideshow and I have the same birthday, although he was born a year earlier. For a few hours once a year, we are the same age.
2- I met Godsmack a couple years ago. I'm obsessed with Sully, but completely froze up when I shook his hand. I couldn't talk. I was afraid to become a blathering idiot, but instead, I looked like a mute idiot. I shoulda hugged him… Then, I was so nervous I stood a little too far away from him in the picture!
3- I love blue moon ice cream.
4- Like Saresa, I also learned to read when I was about 3 years old. My parents actively read to me a lot and I was into it! At first, they thought I might have memorized my favorite story of the time (I think it was called “Come Out and Play” about a cat and mouse). But, with a different book I was able to recognize words and woohoo, I was on a roll, baby!
5- When I was in 4th-ish grade, I started to write short stories. I wrote a series of stories about the adventures of some fish. I wonder if I could find them… I bet they'd be hilarious in a “what was I thinking” kinda way.
6- I have 3 cats. Only 1 (the middle one!) was picked out and named by Sideshow and myself. The other two came to us when needing homes from people we knew. They also vary in size and cuddlyness: Freckles, 16lbs, super cuddly and an attention whore; Capone, 12lbs, cuddles on his own terms (usually when I'm playing WoW); Bella, 8 lbs, too bitey to be cuddly, but likes to cuddle at the oddest of times.
7- One of my guildies is from my hometown. We also graduated from the same high school (although 4-5 years apart!). I found this out while conducting his entrance interview! (And no, I wasn't grilling about those things! I swear! But another Wisconsinite guildie that was friends with him IRL told him I was from ‘sconsin too.)
8- I hate mornings. I used to love working straight 3rd shift.
9- My first car was a Ford Probe '88 with Turbo. Yes, it was stick shift. Oh and it was red. And fast. I loved that car, until a damn tree fell on it.
10- Oh crap, here we are at number 10 already. Umm… I love butterflies, wolves, and daisies!
Screw it, I'll be a rebel and add 3 bonus factoids!
11- I am scared of hate clowns.
12- I have a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice with a triple minor in Psychology, Politics, and Religious Studies.
13- My first CD ever owned was Vanilla Ice “To the Extreme.”
So there ya have it… a little more about the real Syrana. I'll work on having Sideshow post up his 10 honest things and probably also the name meme he hasn't had a chance to do yet. *nodnod*

Aww, shucks, well, shucky darn, I’ll have to go and do something now *grinds toe in dirt* it was nuttin’.
Thanks for the nomination. I’ll try not to disappoint.
Woot! I’m not the only reading fanatic! I want your degree as well… it sounds so much more fun than mine does.
Great to learn about the real Syrana behind Syrana!
Yeah, more bloggers to check out. I’ve seen Rosalyn blog before, but the others are new to myself. Thanks for including me in the meme. I’ll be writing mine in the next few days.
We share a lot of things in common. I started reading at three, so did my daughter. I started writing stories when I was six. My longest story was about 300 pages.
Years passed by, and I continued to write although my writing became technical in nature. I’ve recently gotten back into story writing although now I use a computer to write down my stories.
Yes, I love Godsmack too but I haven’t seen them in person.
I love your cats. Ms. Bella looks as though you caught her in the middle of grooming herself. I used to have a cat named Veba, and she had the same expression on her face when grooming.
LOL I also minored in psychology. Your kitties are SUPER CUTE! Its good to see a propper title in front of a kittie’s name. We refer to all of our cats with a Mr. (they’re all boys).
Not just my favorite then…
@Dav – You are welcome! *ruffles Dav’s hair*
@Saresa – The classes for my degree were pretty awesome, but trying to find a job that puts all those things to use hasn’t worked much in my favor. 🙁 And yeah, I like these awards just to learn more about my fellow bloggers!
@Gaming Diva – That’s the awesome thing with this 1 list.. you learn new stuff but also find more common ground with the blogging community. And yeah, Bella was mid-groom! hehe
@Fish – Thanks 😀 They sometimes get the properness and other times I just make their names funky. Like, Capone.. we often call him Cappy or Caps. Sometimes I call him Obiwancaponie. >.>
@Gnomeaggedon – Aww, but I was yours first! 😉
Yeah, I’m an Engineer with Psychology and Math minors… the math part makes sense but psych makes enginerds go whaaa?! I miss relating to people on a daily basis in my current job and hope to find something that puts it all together as well. “I take the plans from the engineers and give them to the customers so the engineers don’t have to. I have people skills. Why can’t you understand this?!”
@Syrana…
I’m bald…
I’ll let it slide this time.
To the extreme I rock the mic like a vandal, light up the stage and watch me jump like a candle (or something)
…
Vanilla ICE ICE BABY!
/dance
@Fulg – Hahaha Office Space. 😛 I really enjoyed my psychology classes. I really enjoyed a lot of my classes (had to take a variety since it was a Liberal Arts school) and that is how I ended up with multiple minors. I had some great professors and I wanted to attend more of their classes. I might have ended up with a History minor if that professor wouldn’t have retired after my requirement was fulfilled!
@Dav – Oops! Uhm.. *rubs Dav’s bald head for good luck* 😉
@Fear – Dance. When I hear a dope melody. Deadly. Like a poisonous mushroom. Anything less than the best is a felony. (I could be in two separate parts atm, but still… I remember these words >.< ) Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it... ice ice baby too cold too cold LOL
