What did you do in the World of Warcraft in 2009 that you'd never done before?

Well, other than hitting 80…I ran some raids. I don't think I've done much of that before. I only got up to Naxx 10, but it was pretty fun. I also won a fishing derby, which had never happened before. It was also the first time I had more than one max level character (and one on both sides.) I got my Alliance hunter, Gertbee, up to 80.

What was your favorite new place that you visited?

I really liked Howling Fjord when I first got to Northrend, but I also like Storm Peaks since it's really pretty when you fly high over the mountains. I do enjoy the Grizzly Hills music, though.

What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Maybe another character up to 80. I'm hoping to grab both the Salty and Chef titles. Chef should be easy, since all I have left is creating a Great Feast in each of those battlegrounds. Salty will be tougher since I need to catch a very rare fish, which can be very time consuming and boring.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Other than hitting 80, probably either the “Master Angler of Azeroth” since I had to go up against the whole server or “Ironman” since I got it completely without trying (on my holy priest.) It was also nice to finally get exalted with every Horde faction on Sideshow since he started before rep was changed. Oh, and going to Blizzcon.

What was your biggest failure?

Not actually finishing the first wing of Naxx 10. Our group just didn't have time to get together again for it. Other than that, there isn't much for failure. I don't do much that is easy to fail since I play pretty casually.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Cataclysm, obviously.

What do you wish you'd done less of?

Not sure. I'm usually pretty good at scheduling my time in the game. Maybe less Warhammer?

What was your favorite WoW blog or podcast?

I do enjoy our blog. Haha.  But, I did really enjoy being on both the Twisted Nether and Rawrcast podcasts.

Tell us a valuable WoW lesson you learned in 2009.

Don't take it too seriously. Even though most people whine and bitch in PuGs, BGs, and Wintergrasp, most people in the game are awesome. Don't let one bad apple ruin the whole bunch. Put them on ignore.

  • A hint for the one that didn’t get away:

The Dark Herring can be fished out of any place you can fish up a fangtooth herrings, specifically fangtooth schools in Howling Fjord. They’re all over the place, and it pretty much removes the chance of looting off any other loot table. It’s still a low chance to get a dark herring. Took me about 4-5 hours of total fishing for it. Which was over the course of like a week. But like most fishing cheeses, it’s just about determination. =D

Congrats on ’09 and here’s hoping you achieve what you want for 2010.

  • Haha, I love how you left the title the way I saved it in drafts for you and didn’t change it to fit your theme.

    Man, don’t I look bossy. 😛

And see! You did achieve a lot, although we’re still pretty tight on the achievement point race!

Welcome

We are a family of gamers. Mom and Dad have been gaming for as long as they can remember back when you only had a joystick to use and saved your games to cassette tapes.

They've been gaming together since they met in 2002. Sometime after 2006, they both started playing World of Warcraft and did that for many years. They started this blog, originally called Sideshow & Syrana which has now transitioned to the new Stay-At-Home Gamers site, while keeping all of the original content.

Starting in 2010, two more gamers came along (now known as Princess Boo and Mr. X) and they are now old enough where they both enjoy playing games and watching others play games. They are both excited to have others to watch them play their favorite games. Come along with us and let's enjoy these games together!
