Generation 2: Aerissa, Xander, and Caleb
(Warning, here comes another stretch of sporadic screenshots as I mentioned in a previous post)
After Aerissa and Brenden's wedding, the house was feeling a bit cramped with four adults and one teenager. Caleb was nearly done with high school and everyone else had at least a part-time job. One evening, after Xander complained about being able to hear too much through the wall that separated his room from Aerissa's, the family agreed to find a larger house.
Unfortunately, all the large houses were a bit too pricey. Then, they found an interesting lot for sale. It had three trailer style homes arranged a community yard. It was decided that Darcy would have one trailer to herself, Aerissa and Brenden would have another, and Caleb and Xander could share the third. Aerissa was excited because it even came with a playground.
A few months after moving in, Darcy discovered why Aerissa was so thrilled about the swingset and slide… Aerissa was pregnant! Darcy was overjoyed that she would become a grandmother. Her and Aerissa spent time together getting the nursery ready. Aerissa enjoyed having her mother to help faun over her, especially since Brenden was getting more well known in the music scene. When Aerissa made her announcement, the entire family agreed that the compound had, indeed, been the perfect idea.
While everyone seemed happy with the new arrangements, Xander found himself wanting more and more to move on with his own life. He cared about his family, but he was completely head over heels for his high school sweetheart, Dixie. His thoughts were filled of visions of their future. Sometimes when Dixie would be talking to him, he'd be daydreaming about taking the next step.
Xander saved money from his part-time job at the mausoleum and guitar playing in the park. He picked out a ring and carried it with him at all times because he never knew when the right moment would happen. One evening after taking Dixie out to dinner, she was joking about them running away. She constantly chided him for the silliness of the family compound and the zoo it would become once Xander became an uncle.
Xander went down on one knee and asked Dixie, right there in his yard, to marry him. She gushed, shrieked, and cried. Xander knelt before her with the ring box open, bewildered by her reaction. Dixie exclaimed, “Yes!” and took the ring. She hugged and kissed Xander. He felt a sense of relief and waited until she calmed down. Once she did, she told him that she expected them to elope and for him to move in with her.
